Chronis has served as the chair of the township Zoning Board of Appeals since 2021. She has also been a member of the township Board of Review since 2007, also serving as chair and vice chair. Her professional background is in commercial real estate appraising and lending.

“I’m not in it for the political piece of it. I’m in it for the community piece of it,” she said.

As she campaigns ahead of the general election, she hopes partisan politics are not the focus.

“It shouldn’t matter as much at this local level what side of the aisle I tend to be supportive of. The focus should stay on doing a good job for the community and the citizens of the township,” she said.

Many township residents are concerned about growth and development in the area and the state of gravel roads in the township. Those are two topics she often discusses with residents.

“We’re the next municipality over to the south and west of Ann Arbor, so we are in that greater conversation, and the growth is spreading our direction. People in our township are concerned about preserving the rural character, which I think is a huge benefit of living here.”

She wants to understand the long-term effects of development proposals, she said, also mentioning the Toll Brothers plan to build 107 luxury homes and two private wastewater treatment plants in the township.

“I think that developers like to say this will really enhance a community. I’m not in agreement or disagreement with that. But what I’m concerned about, because we’re all on well and septic, is the longer-term effects,” she said.
